| | | Find the perfect gift for the political fanatics you love, including teddy roosevelt bobblehead! | Political debates of every kind. | McCain can call Obama a socialist or Teddy Roosevelt his hero, but not both | | "Imagine that instead of telling Joe "the Plumber" Wurzelbacher that "when you spread the wealth around it's good for everybody," Barack Obama had said the following:We grudge no man a fortune in civil life if it is honorably obtained and well used. It is not even enough that it should have been gained without doing damage to the community. We should permit it to be gained only so long as the gaining represents benefit to the community. … The really big fortune, the swollen fortune, by the mere fact of its size, acquires qualities which differentiate it in kind as well as in degree from what is possessed by men of relatively small means. Therefore, I believe in a graduated income tax on big fortunes, and … a graduated inheritance tax on big fortunes, properly safeguarded against evasion, and increasing rapidly in amount with the size of the estate. The New York Post's Page One would blare: "OBAMA: I'LL SEIZE 'SWOLLEN FORTUNES'!" Bill Kristol would demand to know, in his New York Times column, what godly powers enabled Obama to discern precisely whose wealth—David Geffen's? George Soros'?—would "benefit the community." On Fox News, Bill O'Reilly would start to say something,... | |
| | Leonardo DiCaprio to play Teddy Roosevelt?? | | I am a HUGE teddy roosevelt fan, and I recently heard they are making a movie about him. And the actor they are discussing right now to play Teddy is Leonardo DiCaprio.
I have very mixed feelings about this!! I know that Leonardo DiCaprio can do more than pretty boy, but I have a really hard time imagining him to be the greatest president the US has ever seen!
Does anybody else have an opinion about this?ld blare: "OBAMA: I'LL SEIZE 'SWOLLEN FORTUNES'!" Bill Kristol would demand to know, in his New York Times column, what godly powers enabled Obama to discern precisely whose wealth—David Geffen's? George Soros'?—would "benefit the community." On Fox News, Bill O'Reilly would start to say something, then sputter, turn purple, and keel over backward in a grand mal seizure. John McCain, meanwhile, would have to stop saying that Teddy Roosevelt is his hero, because the passage quoted above is from T.R.'s "New Nationalism" speech of 1910. Either that, or McCain would have to quit calling Barack Obama a socialist." -- http://www.slate.com/id/2202950/

| | Do you think that Obama should have gotten the Nobel prize? | | Hi Folks.
Several days ago Obama received the Nobel peace prize consisting of a beautiful gold medallion and over a million Euros. Do you think that Obama deserved to get the Nobel peace prize? What did Obama ever do to get it? At least when my cousin Teddy Roosevelt got the Nobel peace prize it was for helping to stop the Russian Japanese war.
| | President's plan for health care- spare 4 mins | | Here is a link to video of 4 mins duration about health care plan by President Obama"I suffer no illusions that this will be an easy process. It will be hard. But I also know that nearly a century after Teddy Roosevelt first called for reform, the cost of our health care has weighed down our economy and the conscience of our nation long enough. So let there be no doubt: health care reform cannot wait, it must not wait, and it will not wait another year."– President Barack Obama, February 24, 2009Video link

| | What do T Roosevelt and this super intendent have in common? | | What do Teddy Roosevelt and Superintendent Kevin Bright have in common? Not much. "The President is merely the most important among a large number of public servants. He should be supported or opposed exactly to the degree which is warranted by his good conduct or bad conduct, his efficiency or inefficiency in rendering loyal, able, and disinterested service to the Nation as a whole. Therefore it is absolutely necessary that there should be full liberty to tell the truth about his acts, and this means that it is exactly necessary to blame him when he does wrong as to praise him when he does right. Any other attitude in an American citizen is both base and servile. To announce that there must be no criticism of the President, or that we are to stand by the President, right or wrong, is not only unpatriotic and servile, but is morally treasonable to the American public. Nothing but the truth should be spoken about him or any one else. But it is even more important to tell the truth, pleasant or unpleasant, about him than about any one else."~Roosevelt in the Kansas City Star", 149 May 7, 1918 "The district", he said, "expects students and staff to show respect... | |
| | Would the REAL Barack Obama please stand up? (from the tv show"What's My Line") | | Whether you’re a Democrat, Independent, or a Republican you’ve got to admit that this is bizarre … How can Barack Obama be:Kennedy-esque, then Reagan-esque, then Lincoln-esque – all the while following an FDR blueprint? Geesh, next he’ll be putting on a Teddy Roosevelt mask. Is this symptomatic of a more serious ‘identity issue’? Or, are we being led down the ‘rabbit hole’ about who this man really is, and what he really intends to do with the power of the presidency? Or, could it be that he lacked the substance or 'gravitas' to run and win on his own, without the power of marketing making him appeal to ‘everyman’ as if he is the reincarnation of every one of America’s greatest past presidents? Why do you think that the unending comparisons abound? It would seem that our soon to be next president is ‘like’ everyone but Barack Obama. Hmmm, should we be laughing at the absurdity of one man being compared to a series of polar opposites, or should we be terribly concerned???____________________________________________________________________________________Below is just the tip of the iceburg of news stories and opinion pieces noting the plethora of comparisons... | |
