| What are your thougths on Rudy Giuliani running for US President? | | I thought he did a great job as Mayor of NY but after reading and listening to what he has to say I don't think I would give him my vote for President of the US. After reading his web site I sat here saying "so, where does he stand on that?". That's one of the things I hate about all politicians they can say a lot and end up saying nothing. He said he "believes marriage is between a man and a woman. He does not—and has never—supported gay marriage. But he believes in equal rights under law for all Americans. That’s why he supports domestic partnerships that provide stability for committed partners in important legal and personal matters, while preserving the sanctity of marriage between a man and a woman."...so what is he saying here? Rudy Giuliani Says Illegal Immigration is NOT a Crime. | | I am confused these two statements which were made just 3 weeks apart and I dont know whether Rudy is for the illegals or against them. This latest says illegal immigration is not a crime but the earliest statement is saying how "tough" he is going to be with them! I am really not too sure where he is coming from. Can anyone help me?

"I know that's very hard for people to understand - but it's not a federal crime," he said yesterday. "I know this. In fact, when you throw an immigrant out of the country, it's not a criminal proceeding. It's a civil proceeding." Illegal immigration shouldn't be a crime, either, Giuliani said. "The government wouldn't be able to prosecute it. We couldn't prosecute 12 million people." He added: "My solution is close the border to illegal immigration."
