| I have discovered political cartoons | | I recently discovered Ann Telnaes. She does animated political cartoons for the Washington Post. Some are great, some get tacky, but here's a good one.

| What Is the News Media's Ethical Obligation? | | What do you think? Do NEWS organizations have an ethical obligation to tell the truth even on their editorial page? The reason I ask this question is because of a recent political cartoon on the liberal side of the local newspaper which shows a poster of Rush Limbaugh with the wording "HOPE FOR FAILURE," implying that Rush wants our country to fail. That, of course, is not what Rush was implying when he said he wants Obama to fail. He very clearly said he wants the United States to succeed, but doesn't believe that's possible under Obama's plans. I don't have a problem with anyone having differences of opinion, but I do have a problem when lying is used in order to advance an agenda. If you can't persuade by using reason and a convincing argument, then you don't have a case. To date I have not heard anyone on the left explain why Obama's policies will be good for the United States. Am I wrong? | |

| Obama comparison to dangerous chimp! | | so what do myLotters think of the recent cartoon printed by the NY Post?
Would really like your opinion on this one.
The paper apologized to those who were offended and that they didn't mean anything by it...Bull...they know exactly what they meant, who else signs stimulus packs?
I think that was disrespectful and very immature of the NY Post and whoever the cartoonist is!!
what do you think?

| The RACIST attacks on Bush need to end! | | I'm sick of all the racism against Bush! It's been going on for years and nobody seems to mind. I see it in the grocery store, in magazines, newspapers, T-shirts and all over the internet. People compare him to a MONKEY! It's RACIST. Does it bother you when you see racist attacks like these?http://www.mrsockmonkey.com/topics/Pictures-Where-George-Bush-Looks-Like-a-Monkey/

| In Search of Dr. Suess | | We had this video at school this week, and I really liked it. It can be purchased on line, and I liked the bright artwork and lively human interaction. I learned a lot about Dr. Seuss, and about his books. | |
|
| Dr. Seuss the activist | | This week I learned something new. Dr. Seuss drew political cartoons, over 400 in the years 1941-1943. These were the only "angry" pictures he drew. Did you know that about Dr. Seuss? | |

| Racist Double Standard of the Left... | | For 8 years, many of Prs. Bush's opponents called him "The Chimp". There were tons of charicatures representing Bush as a chimpanzee. Now, I have nothing against political cartoons. Political satire is as old as print itself. I know my own brand of satire is offensive to some.. that's ok.However...What would be the reaction from the hypocritical left if someone depicted Obama as a chimp? | |

| Due to cleaning, hosting the holidays, and a Census Bureau test, I won't be here | | even as much as I have been. The Census Bureau test is Dec. 29, 2008. Sunday, it was in the newspaper about it. So I have to finishe cleaning, my husband will do most of the cooking. Then we have the holidays, and then I start studying for the test. $11 to $18 an hour and part-time. I figure subbing will slow down after the holidays and by 2010, I may need to supplement my income. So check your local Census Bureau and see if they're hiring. In the meantime, if you like answering my questions, I have some that have zero or responses or one asking me what I meant that you might want to check out:What cartoons have you thought were really inspired/timely/right on the money?
The above could be political cartoons or regular ones. Have you ever used a surveyor's transit? How does one work? When did you use it?Does anyone know any crafts using milkweed?
This one, if you search milkweed and crafts, you will see poinsettias (they paint them red. History and milkweed will get you some interesting things, too.If you would like to take a practice Census test: www.census.gov/2010censusjobs/documents/Practice_Test.pdf.You can see from the practice how well you would do... | |
