| | The Lipstick Comment | | I have heard many comments on the Senator Obama "Lipstick on a pig" joke and have seen the video clip several times. The comment shows what happens when Senator Obama is off the Teleprompter. He gives a poor speech and he rambles on. In this case had makes a major blunder. One of two things are possible: First he knew what he was saying and made the comment about Gov Palin. The other is that he was telling it as a joke. If it was a deliberate joke about Gov Palin then it was in extremely poor taste and way out of bounds. Such personal attacks have no place in presidential politics. If on the other hand it was simply a tired old political joke then it shows very poor judgment. With Gov Palin making a joke about lipstick and pit bulls a few nights before, the connection now becomes personal. I don't think he meant to call Gov Palin a Pig. But it does question his judgment and with out a teleprompter in diplomatic negotiations is he going to say something that will hurt the country? It seems that prominent families in the country really feel that politics is a sort of family business. Here in my province, we have a lady governor with brother as a congressman & her father who used to be our governor also is now an elected congressman and all serving under one province. The same also happens at other parts of the country. All those who are in the senate, have their wife, siblings, parents, children and other relatives occupying other positions in the government. Most of them are banking on their family name’s popularity to get elected but most of them are just all air and no substance. I won’t mind so much if all of them do their jobs well and are really competent but many are just blundering idiots. Our city mayor came from a political family whose clout in the province and city is very strong but I am proud to say that the people in my city still voted wisely because we voted not because of their family name but because we believe in their capabilities.
