It reminded me of an election some years ago where Jesse Jackson and other politicians were talking about what "the Reverend King would have wanted" and what "the Reverend Kind would have said" or thought or whatever. And I thought, "you know what, why am I listening to all these people, some of whom didn't even know him, talk about what he would have thought or wanted? Why not go and read the man's own words and decide for yourself?" So I bought a book of his writings and sermons and speeches and did some reading and got some kind of an idea of what he really stood for. So when I saw that book last night I thought "that makes a whole lot more sense than reading all this stuff that's floating around the internet about what anybody supposedly said." So how many people have gotten curious and actually gone out and read what somebody had to say in their own words? | |
