Political debates of every kind. | | Is it time for a new political party? | | He is running our auto industry. He is running our banks. He is spending our taxes. He is making sure that everything that once was the responsibility of private industries and individuals now go through him. He is compromising our national security by closing Gitmo. He is telling our enemies that we want to be more diplomatic. He is not commenting when those enemies respond to diplomacy with medium-range rocket tests. He is controlling the media like a puppeteer on steroids. With everything that he is doing, he must be getting tired. I know I am getting tired of him. Too bad we don't have a viable party to stand up to him. Congress doesn't stand up to him, and honestly, they were busy driving us down this road long before Obama came on board. The Republicans died back in the days of the first Bush. It is time for a strong independent party. Maybe we should call it the Tea Party? | |

| | Every Day A New Political Scandal | | While surfing through the news today I came across several brewing political scandals. I guess this is the norm in politics today. I feel that our political system is in dire need of an overhaul. These people are taking money earmarked for education and other human services and putting it into their own pockets. It's sickening, and it needs to stop. When these public figures are found guilty of such crimes they should be subjected to much stiffer penalties than they are now receiving. Of course things won't get any better if they continue to just receive a slap on the wrist. | |

What would our forefathers think? | | Now i'm not up to politics, and i've never had any energy for presidential elections unless the media makes a field day of it, but in this case, the race for president between the status quo candidate (McCain), female candidate (Hillary) and an African-American candidate (Obama), this could really be interesting.I've got nothing against McCain, but as for Hillary and Obama, if either of them becomes the next president of the United States, it would be a first in the country's political history of elections. If our forefathers, like George Washington, Ben Franklin, John Adams, etc. watched these elections, I wonder what would they think and say about it. After all, there's nothing in the US Constitution or Bill of Rights preventing an election of a candidate of a different gender OR race.As I stated before, this election could be very interesting, and even if the forefathers aren't alive to see this, I wonder what's going on in their minds about this new political turn of events. | |
| | Elections in Italy | | April 13th is another day of elections in Italy.
Italy has had more number of governments formed than as many years since 2nd World War.
Italy is one of the most Industrialised countries and is a member of the prestigious G8 group.
But its economy has not made any significant growth in the last decade.
The two main contenders for the prime minister post are:
1...Silvio Berlusconi, the older man, a rich business magnate.
2...Walter Veltroni, the younger man, from the left of politics.
A politically strong Italy is good for the world and economy.
The Communist theory of Karl Marx has failed miserably and Russia and China have adopted Open Market economy and have grown out of the measly poverty.
It is feasible for these two men to get together, after the elections, and work to formulate a new political system for Italy to have a strong government?
I think if these two men have the 'good' of Italy, in mind, than the 'best' for themselves, they will sit and work together and NOT against each other. | |
