| | | Find the perfect gift for the political fanatics you love, including lyndon b johnson collectible! | Political debates of every kind. | Lyndon B. Johnson and J.Edgar Hoover ordered the assasination of JFK? | | This is the deathbed confession that former CIA operative E.Howard Hunt has made. The entire story and confession can be found in the new Rolling Stones magazine. In addition to the order of assasination, Mr. Hunt claims lyndon b. Johnson was the sole creator of the Lone Gunman Theory and was responsible for accusing Lee Harvey Oswald for the former president's death. Mr. Hunt also claims Lucien Sarti (a CIA operative) was the gunman responsible for the fatal headshot to John F. Kennedy, and this shot did indeed come from the grassy knoll. Do you believe this confession is in fact true, or just a publicity stunt? Obviously a formal investigation will be conducted regarding this new information and accusation; however, even if the truth is learned, do you expect the government to come out and tell the truth to the American people? Do you think the American people can handle the truth? If this accusation is in fact true, what do you think will be the repercussions within this country, and/or our government? | |
| | This day in History through the years | | I saw a post that mentioned that today was the day that America dropped the Atomic-bomb in Japan in 1945, so I thought of all the other things that happened that day as well, in other years. 1787- US constitution draft was debated in Philadelphia 1806- Holy Roman empire went out of existence 1825- Bolivia got independence 1890- First use of the electric chair 1928- Andy Warhol was born 1962- Jamaica became an independent dominion under the British commonwealth 1965- Lyndon B. Johnson, president of the US, signed the voting rights act 1978- The Pope (VI) died 1998- Bill Clinton's mistress testified over their affair 2005- Mother, Cindy Sheehan, held a weeks-long protest, over the death of her son in Iraq, outside of President Bush's ranch in Texas I hope you enjoyed reflecting on the past, though some of it was not so pleasant. | |
| | War or Peace? | | I have just finished reading a "unique book by a unique woman." (Library Journal) The book was written by Peace Pilgrim: HER LIFE AND WORK IN HER OWN WORDS. It's very interesting, try to get hold of a copy. Here are a number of quotes in that book:General Omar Bradley: "Wars can be prevented just as surely as they can be provoked, and we who fail to prevent them must share in the guilt for the dead."General Douglas MacArthur: "I have known war as few men now living know it. Its very destructiveness on both friend and foe has rendered it useless as a means of settling international disputes."Pope John XXIII: "If civil authorities legislate for or allow anything that is contrary to the will of God, neither the laws made nor the authorizations granted can be binding on the consciences of the citizens, since God has more right to be obeyed than men."Dwight D. Eisenhower: "Every gun that is made, every warship launched, every rocket fired, signifies in the final sense a theft from those who are hungry and are not fed, those who are cold and are not clothed."John F. Kennedy: "Mankind must put an end to war, or war will put an end to mankind... War will exist until... | |
| | Who Would You Most Like To Slap In The Face? | | I know that everyone out there has at least one person that they would just love to give a big slap across the face or a punch perhaps. Personally I wouldn't mind slapping some government officials in the past for example Lyndon B. Johnson and Ronald Reagen. Who would you like to slap in the face?
Where would be the funniest place to slap them in the face?

10 Things That Have Deflated the Macy’s Parade
by Stacy ConradtBuzz up!on Yahoo! The Macy’s Parade has been a Thanksgiving tradition since the 1920s. Through the years, however, there have been a number of mishaps with the giant helium balloons – some comical and some tragic. Here are ten such incidents.1. Kathleen Caronna might want to think about buying a lucky horseshoe or something. First, in 1997, she was the victim of the infamous Cat in the Hat incident. When the Cat balloon got swept astray of the parade route by high winds, it ran into a lamp post and knocked it down – right in to Ms. Caronna, who was in a coma for a month afterward. She sued the city, Macy’s, and the lamp post manufacturer for $395 million and settled for an undisclosed amount. But that’s not all. In 2006, a plane carrying Yankees pitcher Cory Lidle and his flight instructor crashed into the Belaire Apartments building. Caronna’s apartment was one of the ones hit, although she wasn’t home at the time. Still: weird.2. In 1986, there were two incidents: a 61-year-old bagpiper had a fatal heart attack while marching in the parade, and a spectator fell out the fourth story...

| | Little known black history fact | | In 1961, a young African American man, after hearing President John F. Kennedy's challenge to, "Ask not what your country can do for you, but what you can do for your country," gave up his student deferment, left college in Virginia and voluntarily joined the Marines.
In 1963, this man, having completed his two years of service in the Marines, volunteered again to become a Navy corpsman. The people who provide medical care to the Marines as well as Navy personnel.
This man did so well in corpsman school that he was the valedictorian and became a cardiopulmonary technician. Not surprisingly, he was assigned to the Navy's premier medical facility, Bethesda Naval Hospital, as a member of the commander-in-chief's medical team, and helped care for
President Lyndon B. Johnson after his surgery in 1966.
For his service on his team, which he left in 1967, the Whitehouse awarded him 3 letters of commendation. What is even more remarkable is that this man entered the Marines and Navy not many years after the 2 branches began to become integrated.
While this young man was serving six years on active duty, Vice President D. Cheney, who was born the same year as the Marine/sailor,...
| | Cactus Pryor | | There's this radio personality here in Austin. I'm going to copy what is writen in Wikipedia.
Richard "Cactus" Pryor is considered a legend in Texas broadcasting. A native Austinite, Pryor has been a fixture in Texas broadcasting and entertainment since 1944. He received his nickname after the old Cactus Theater on Congress Avenue in Austin, Texas, which was run by his father, Skinny Pryor.
Pryor has also appeared in several movies including The Green Berets with John Wayne. He is the author of a 1995 collection of some 40 essays entitled "Playback".
He currently regales audiences on Austin radio with a daily 2-minute trip down memory lane, reminiscing about places and people from his past. Many of those of whom he speaks are long-gone. He is a confessed liberal, and has acknowledged that his (adult) children are conservative. Pryor also claims to be one of the first people to have heard of the assassination of President John F. Kennedy, having been at the ranch of then-vice president Lyndon Baines Johnson at the time.
Pryor has for several years been a radio spokesman for the Austin-based Tex-Mex restaurant chain Serrano's. In these ads, he is often called "Nopalito", which...
