| | Political debates of every kind. | Why Does Obama have so many supporters named Ellie Light? An Astroturf Story | | Often a political organization or party will write a letter on an issue and ask their members to send this letter to their Congressmen or Senators, etc. As far as I know, they usually do not ask them to send the same letter to different newspapers all over the country, pretending to live local to the newspaper's town of origin. But a strange letter-writing campaign has surfaced, and it all began with one Cleveland Plain Dealer reporter seeing the Light. Ellie Light, that is.Ellie Light wrote the same letter (with minor changes to deflect internet searches) to 62 small newspapers in 29 states. She even managed to get her letter published on the blog Politico. Her letters espouse support for Barack Obama and encourage people to give him a chance. Her letter also appeared in two overseas publications. Sabrina Eaton of the Cleveland Plain Dealer found the multiple letters when she was unable to get Ellie Light to reveal her true address. But since then, another rash of similar letters has been noticed, these coming from someone calling himself Mark Spivey. His letters have appeared in numerous newspapers, again with the address given being one local to the newspaper's location.... | |
| | Female president for America? | | The big question of the moment is whether the time has come for America to have a female prwesident. Hilary Clinton is presently the frontrunner for the Democratic party nominations and if the mood of the voters continues to be anti republican then anything can happen in 2008. able to get Ellie Light to reveal her true address. But since then, another rash of similar letters has been noticed, these coming from someone calling himself Mark Spivey. His letters have appeared in numerous newspapers, again with the address given being one local to the newspaper's location. In fact, Mark's letter even appeared on the same page as Ellie's in one paper. And then - more letters. Different text from Ellie and Mark, but the same letter being sent to dozens of newspapers from different people. Janet Leigh, Glorie Elle, Mark Platz... and more. What all these letters have in common is that they are in support of Obama and health care reform and critical of the Bush administrtation. They blame the current problems completely on Bush. Where have we heard that before? Why is this different than letter-writing campaigns encouraged by political... | |
| | Happy Polygamy Day! | | Today, August 19, 2008, is the 8th annual Polygamy Day for all consenting adults who are pro-polygamy!The following are excerpts from: http://www.pro-polygamy.com/articles.php?news=0062"Christian polygamists, secular polygamists, Jewish polygamists, Muslim polygamists, and even any Mormon polygamists who oppose underage marriage, all can celebrate this one specific day each year wherever they live.""Marriage controllers still self-combustively react as "democrats," promoting anti-republican referendum "democracy" in order to infringe individual rights. But they are finding that that very same use of majoritarian "democracy" can and will backfire against them. Mobocratic majorities can just as easily vote against current big government marriage definitions. Worse - as happened in Maine in June, 2008 - marriage controllers trying to get an anti-homosexual referendum on the ballot are even having to give up. They could not even get enough signatures to get the proposal onto the ballot. That battle is being lost. Herewith, the polygamy rights WIN-WIN solution obtained momentum to end all marriage politics for all sides. By prohibiting big government from... | |
| | Is Obama afraid of hard questions? Is he afraid of the public? | | I don't think many people will deny that Obama is better at giving prepared speeches than McCain, but why is he afraid to field real questions from real people? McCain holds town hall meetings every week where regular people get to ask questions in a no holds barred forum. He takes a lot of heat at these meetings and they've led to more that one poor statement, but to me, it shows he's willing to stand with the average man.Obama on the other hand takes part in campaign events that are "invitation only". When McCain suggested they do town hall meetings together he scoffed and wanted nothing to do with that. Even when Obama spoke to the NAACP, and National Council of La Raza he would not take a single question. Those are groups that are actually quite friendly to him and yet he made his speech and left.McCain on the other hand took questions after making speeches to both groups. The NAACP is heavily anti-republican so he was clearly in a much more hostile environment than Obama yet he did not shy away from questions. Everyone talks about how great a speaker Obama is, but do we really want a president who's afraid to take questions without having a list of prepared... | |
| | Radical Posts on myLot | | I am a radical in most parts of my life.
My religious beliefs are not what is considered everyday and normal. My political beliefs are extremely Libertarian and anti big Government, anti Democrat and anti Republican. My Personal life is fringe too.
I have found that when I make posts that show my radical views, people tend to stay away from them, where if it is a simple question like do you prefer House over ER or some other unimportant question, it gets bombed with responses.
Am I that radical or is it that many don't want to respond in an open forum about thoughts like that??? What do you think??? Should I continue to post like I do or should I just go with the safe questions to get more responses? | |
