What Justification is There to Let Private Organizations Register People to Vote
"Deputy Registrars" are people authorized to register people to vote. They often get paid by the registration and the groups that employ them often impose quotas on them. Why on earth is this even allowed to happen? How does it even make rational sense to let just anyone go around registering people to vote? When a voter registers with one of these "deputies" they are eligible to vote... even if they have no legal right to vote. Many of these "deputies" turn out to be people not eligible to vote themselves, which is illegal. Of course, the liars who run these organizations deny knowledge, but they were the ones that hired the people and vouched for the person when the person became a "deputy".This practice has no business in our elections and no honest or ethical person would take part in such anti democratic bullcrap.
India has Multi-Racial Leader, Prime Minister and President Why NOT America,
India has free elections. Last time, a foreign ... an Italian origin ... and Roman Catholic ... and a Woman leader won elections. She picked a man from a minority community ... a Sheikh ... as the Prime Minister ... She selected a Muslim ... Abdul Kalam as President ... In 250 years America didn't do this change.Yet, in the past some American presidents thought India to be worthy of their condemnations for anti-democratic behaviour. But the actions of american presidents in supporting a rival nation in south-east asia forced India to align with Soviet Union. Pakistan president Zia ul-Hug was given billions of dollars worth of arms by america. Zia is the army general that was hand picked by prime minister Bhutto to head the army. And when table was turned Bhutto refused to beg and Zia refused clemency.Such disastrous foreign policies will of the past if Obama is given the chance to change. For Obama believes in talking to friend and foe to strike a balance and have a better world.
Why Keep the Electoral College?
The founding fathers of the United States set up a Representative Republic. It's a democratic form of government, but is not a democracy. One of the drawbacks of a democracy is "mob rule". Whatever the majority wants, everyone else just has to live with because there is no way to change it.A Representative Republic has safeguards in place that prevent majority rule. One of these safeguards is that there isn't a Federal Election, but 50 state elections. Another safeguard is the division of the country into Congressional Districts. Since the people of each district get to elect their representative, the population centers of the country don't control everything. The biggest challenge was keeping mob rule out of choosing the President. Since the people of all Congressional Districts and States vote for president, they had to find a way to give less populated areas the same voice as the big cities. The Electoral College satisfies this requirement. Because of it, Ohio and Florida can be as powerful as California and New York. There are a lot of people calling for an end to the Electoral College. They say it is outdated, unneeded and anti democratic. If they still...
The repeating of American history - every hundred years or so?
The repeating of American history - every hundred years or so?History is repeating itself and one wonders if this is what we have to look forward to every hundred years. For those that may not wish to read further, it is about American government policy then, and now.All information freely available and if necessary I can send the sources to whomever. Some are noted and others available from the best seller "Lies My Teacher Told Me" by James Loewen.I found the similarities interesting.Early 1900's.A President. Two major anti-democratic policies - racial segregation of the federal government and military intervention in foreign countries. This will mainly deal with the intervention in foreign countries, his racism is an "Internal" matter for Americans to deal with themselves.Under this President, America landed troops in Mexico (1914), Haiti (1915), Dominican Republic (1916), Mexico again (1916 and then 9 more times while this President was in office - where American 'interests' owned more of Mexico than interests from anywhere else - including Mexico), Cuba (1917), Panama (1918).While in office he kept troops in Nicaragua to determine the...

The problem with democracy
The problem with democracyhttp://www.informationclearinghouse.info/article11694.htmNEWS YOU WON'T FIND ON CNNThe problem with democracyAnd now, horror of horrors, the Palestinians have elected the wrong party to powerBy Robert Fisk01/28/06 "The Independent" -- -- Oh no, not more democracy again! Didn't we award this to those Algerians in 1990? And didn't they reward us with that nice gift of an Islamist government - and then they so benevolently cancelled the second round of elections? Thank goodness for that!True, the Afghans elected a round of representatives, albeit that they included some warlords and murderers. But then the Iraqis last year elected the Dawa party to power in Baghdad, which was responsible - let us not speak this in Washington - for most of the kidnappings of Westerners in Beirut in the 1980s, the car bombing of the (late) Emir and the US and French embassies in Kuwait. And now, horror of horrors, the Palestinians have elected the wrong party to power. They were supposed to have given their support to the friendly, pro-Western, corrupt, absolutely pro-American Fatah, which had promised to "control" them, rather than to Hamas,...
